VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - ICBC has been granted permission to impose a 25-dollar fee if you share your vehicle with someone. Until now there was no charge to add another driver to an insurance policy.
But now, if that person has a driving record less stellar than the principle operator, the fee will be imposed. The BC utilities commission says ICBC made a strong case for the additional charge, arguing about 25 per cent of crashes are caused by drivers other than a vehicle's owner or primary driver. The new fee comes into place in May.
